    Your favorite “fan favorite” player

Looking for who your favorite non-star players from the past have been. No Mashburns, Princes, or Davises on this list. Looking for the role players that you liked a lot.

Mine: Heshimu Evans. Eric Daniels. Ravi Moss. Derek Willis

Josh Harrelson, Gerald Fitch, Cliff Hawkins, Reggie Hanson, Darius Miller

I'd take that starting five all day long.

Anymore to say about, Reggie Hanson? That’s not a name I remember at all.

From Pulaski County. Was on Pitino's first UK team. All SEC his Jr and Sr season. He's in the 1000 point club.

That’s pushing the edge of my first hand UK experience. I started watching then, but I was little.

BlueHeaven covered him pretty well. All-State Kentucky high school player who won a state championship. I think he was Mr. Basketball the year after Rex Chapman. He was 6'8", wiry thin but tough as nails .. good for 7 boards and around 2 blocks in addition to his 14/15 points per game his junior and senior seasons at UK. Decent shooter.....shot in the low to mid 30 percent from 3 point range but was mainly a banger on the interior. He played on Eddie Sutton's last two teams and Rick Pitino's first two. Three year starter (sophomore, junior, senior) at Kentucky.

EDIT: John Pelphrey was Kentucky Mr. Basketball in 1987....not Hanson. I liked Pelphrey a lot as well and I think he fits the bill as far as the thread goes. 👍

KYNomad and BlueHeaven both have mentioned Ravi Moss.... and here's where I get to say that I remember the name, but not much else. Seems like I remember liking him, but can't remember anything about him or his game.... just the name. I liked all the other players both mentioned AND remember their games.... just not much about Ravi.

Derrick Miller is another guy who probably fits the "fan favorite but not a big name" mold that I liked and this thread is asking about.

I remember him being a tough competitor with a decent outside shot and good defense. Played for the name on the front of the jersey. Loved that guy.

He was also a coach on Tubby's staff 2000-2007.

James Lee from the 1978 natty. Sixth man who would come off the bench and throw down tomahawk dunks that would electrify the crowd.
